Brown, Tracey

Ms. Brown is an attorney and author currently at work on her second book, a historical novel set in Harlem’s legendary Hotel Theresa. Ms. Brown’s first book, “The Life and Times of Ron Brown”, was a biography of her father, the late U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Ronald H. Brown.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College, Ms. Brown earned her Juris Doctor from St. John’s University Law School. She is a member of the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar, and was appointed to the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Judicial Election and Evaluation Committee. Attorney Brown was senior counsel at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC. She handled consumer protection litigation and policy matters in the areas of business and marketing practices. Ms. Brown also served as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles where she handled all aspects of both felony and misdemeanor cases. In this capacity she also worked with the Hardcore Gang Unit and the South Central Juvenile Court in the District Attorney’s office. She recently joined the law firm of Johnnie L. Cochran, Esq.

Ms. Brown is an officer on the Board of Directors of the non-profit and non-partisan Ronald H. Brown Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing opportunities in politics and international business to the disadvantaged. In addition, Ms. Brown serves on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington. She is also a member of various civic organizations, including the Smart Set, a national philanthropic organization, the Power 40 Initiative of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, and The Links, Inc., a national community service organization, where she has served as Executive Board Member, Officer, and Legal Counsel. Ms. Brown has also been a successful fundraiser for various organizations and political campaigns.
