Shackelford, Lottie
Lottie Shackelford made history in 1987 when she became the first woman elected mayor of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is currently vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee. As executive vice-president at Global USA, she brings to her clients an impressive track record in local, state and national politics. Her considerable expertise in international trade and economic development was sharpened by her appointment by then-President Clinton to the board of directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). During her tenure in local government, Ms. Shackelford directed liaison activities for minority businesses and held leadership positions in the National League of Cities. She has presented papers on local government, led economic trade missions and conducted lecture tours in Europe, Asia and Africa. She has served as deputy campaign manager for the Clinton–Gore Presidential Campaign, was co director of intergovernmental affairs for the Clinton Transition Team and delegate to the last six Democratic National Conventions. She has traveled to West Germany to speak on political and governmental issues. Ms. Shackelford is also a member of the Southern Regional Council in Atlanta, Georgia, and serves on the board of directors of Philander Smith College and the Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. in Phoenix.
