Perryman, Lavonia

Lavonia Perryman currently serves as the Executive Director of the Edward Davis Education Foundation in Detroit, Michigan. She also was elected the Political Action Chair for the Black Caucus of the Michigan Democratic Party. Ms. Perryman has an extensive background in business communications and corporate–government relations, as well as in radio and television. She has managed communications and public affairs for former President Bill Clinton, Reverend Jesse Jackson, the Doug Williams Foundation, Harlem Globetrotter Tyrone “Hollywood” Brown’s Foundation and the Institute for Responsible Fatherhood Foundation. She has also been a communications consultant for former Congressman Walter Fauntroy, Stevie Wonder, Bill Cosby and Yolanda Adams. In the past 25 years, Ms. Perryman has organized media, community and entertainment relations for some of the nation’s most historic events: She was media deputy for the Million Man March, the 1983 March on Washington, National Earth Day, World Culture and Sports Festival III and the Presidential inaugurations for 1984, 1992, 1994 and 1996. She was the director of communications for the Congressional Black Caucus and for the National Council of Negro Women’s Black Family Reunion celebrations for ten years. Ms. Perryman served as deputy communications director for the Million Family March and deputy director of media for the Democratic National Convention. For nearly ten years she has facilitated communications workshops for politicians, athletes and entertainers.
