Richeson, Darlene

Darlene Richeson is assistant vice-president, federal government relations, for Verizon Communications in its Washington, D.C., office. She is responsible for performing legislative advocacy for the congressional delegations of the mid-Atlantic region states and the Congressional Black Caucus. She was formerly a director of congressional affairs for GTE Service Corp. Prior to her career with GTE, she was with AT&T, in Washington, D.C., and New Jersey. She was a marketing and sales specialist and advocated for the international consumer long-distance business unit before the Federal Communications Commission. In 1992 Ms. Richeson was named a congressional fellow with the distinguished Brookings Institute. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, and received her M.B.A. from Widener University, Chester, Pennsylvania. She has also completed executive management programs at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth University and Columbia Graduate School of Business. Ms. Richeson is an expert on telecommunications issues and the role of corporations in the political framework of the United States.
