Brown, Alma Arrington

Alma Arrington Brown is Senior Vice President at Chevy Chase Bank. She has had a truly distinguished career. Her varied experience has included broadcast media, international business development, management, educational consulting, and community development. Mrs. Arrington Brown served as a program specialist for the National Black Child Development Institute and then moved to become the Program Director for The National Council of Negro Women. She moved to the public sector in 1984 serving as Executive Assistant to the Acting Director of The Office of International Business; and, she also served in the capacity as the Acting Director of the Office of International Business before leaving D.C. government service. Her career took a new turn in 1989 when she became Director of Public Affairs and Public Relations for WKYS-FM Radio. In 1995, she joined Chevy Chase Bank as a Vice President, and later became Vice Chairman of Black Entertainment Television (BET) Financial Services, which was a joint venture between Chevy Chase Bank and BET, Holding, Inc. until 1999. Her community involvement extends to such organizations as The National Urban League, The United Negro College Fund National Capital Area, The Girl Scouts of the National Capital Area, Providence Hospital, and Montgomery County Parks Foundation. She has received awards from the Ford Foundation, NCNW, and the National Association of Broadcasters. Mrs. Arrington Brown is a graduate of Fisk University and with a Masters degree from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. She is the widow of the late U.S. Secretary of Commerce Ronald H. Brown.
